2008 Rules and Regulations
(No changes from 2007)

OK Guys - here is the lowdown on how this is going to work.

The object is this.  You will pick any 6 weekly football games that you would like, either or both NCAA and NFL.  **You will pick the games AGAINST the spread.**  For every game you get correct you will get one point.  The points will be calculated on a weekly basis and you will accumulate points throughout the season.  No points are awarded for a "push", this is also known as "The Gawlik Rule". (Coby had 5 correct and a push 2 different times in the 2000 season.  Sorry Coby).

$5 per week will be going to the weekly jackpot and rolls from week-to-week depending on if there is a winner or not.  If anyone ever gets all 6 games correct in one week they will take home the weekly life-to-date rolling jackpot.  If you get 6 right you better hope you do it late in the season, not early.  If there is no weekly winner in the last week of the season we will take whatever the accumulated jackpot has become over the season, combine it with the year-end jackpot, and pay out 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes based on total number of points.  (Distribution will likely be 50% / 30% / 20% of the jackpot).  The big prize potential is the weekly-accumulated jackpot, not the payout at the end.  The payout at the end can be very big if you are lucky, but the real winnings come from the weekly play.  If you get 6 right in the last week, you only get the rolling weekly jackpot, not the year-end jackpot as well, that will be reserved and paid out based on accumulated points.

Picks will be due by 5:00 p.m. central time every Thursday to this web site or to one of my e-mail addresses (pick6mayhem@yahoo.com or pick6mayehm@sbcglobal.net).  There is a "submit" box on this site where you can just type them in and not worry about it, if you're not comfortable with that, use the above e-mail address.   We will ALWAYS use the current line at the Stardust from SportsNetwork College or SportsNetwork NFL as of Thursday at 5:00 when we lock the lines.

We are using Thursdays as the cut off because there are some people who like to get in on the Thursday NCAA or NFL games on ESPN.

Results will be available on this web site periodically throughout the weekends and the final official weekly results will be available sometime each Tuesday after the Monday Night game has been played.

Week 1 will kick off the season during the weekend of September 2nd and run through week 13 of the NFL, which ends on Monday, December 6th.  That is also the weekend of the college conference championship games.

Cost for participation is $105 for the season.  Over the course of the season (14 weeks) that will equate to $70 total over the 4 months contributed to the weekly jackpot and $30 directly to the end of year pool.  Just to clarify, of your $100, $70 ($5/week X 14 weeks) goes to the rolling weekly pot, and $30 to the end of year pot.

The extra $5 will go to cover website costs.  I have been able to do this deal for free over the past few years and I hope this small withholding will make the site as efficient as possible.  Please let me apologize in advance - I wish there were another way around it.

Continuing in 2008, Pick6Mayhem will continue to accept PayPal Payments, but I will no longer take credit card payments for the cost of the season, as PayPal's transaction costs are too high.  I do not know why I still accept PayPal considering nobody has ever used it.  Cool.

All final decisions and judgments are mine and mine exclusively.  If I feel there is a conflict of interest, I'll consult a handful of participants on a random basis to resolve the problem.  Please be responsible enough to get your picks in each week on a timely basis.  It's a waist of my time and your time to track down people who haven't submitted picks.  Please also ensure that there is a line posted on a game for which you are selecting.  Just because you find it on the net or in a paper somewhere doesn't mean it's posted as a current line at the Stardust based on the vegasinsider.com website at 5:00 CST each Thursday.  Thanks for helping me out on these things!
